About The Team

Who can be a Sea Lion?

Any child of a Lake St. Louis resident between the ages of 5-18 who can swim the length of the pool without assistance is eligible for the team.

Swimmers are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and tryouts are not required.

Swimmers unable to swim the length of the pool independently are encouraged to sign up for our Swim Lessons program, and may be moved from the team to that program within the first two weeks of team practice.

Additionally, the Lake St. Louis Community Association (LSL CA) requires that all swimmers have a "swim pass" in order to be a part of the swim team.

  • For Community Association (CA) members, the pass can be purchased directly from the LSL CA office prior to the start of the season.
  • If you are a Lake St. Louis resident but are not within the CA boundaries, you will need to be "sponsored" by the Sea Lions Swim Team, which requires an additional per-swimmer fee.

How many swimmers are on the team?

Our team typically takes around 200 swimmers per season. Based on the age of the swimmer on June 1st, the swimmers are divided into the following age groups that are used for practice schedules and for competing against similar aged swimmers at swim meets:
  • 6 & Under
  • 7 - 8 year olds
  • 9 - 10 year olds
  • 11 - 12 year olds
  • 13 - 14 year olds
  • 15 & Over
When can I sign up?

Registration typically opens up in February or March - information will be posted on our site as it becomes available. Registration will be opened up first for our returning swimmers, then opened for all swimmers. Registration will remain open until the team is full, and additional swimmers may be added to a waitlist.

Where do I sign up?

We announce information about the registration in February, and registration typically begins in March.  Check back to our site often for updates and details.

Who runs the team?

Our team is run by a collaboration between a board of parent volunteers from within our team and our coaching staff. These parents dedicate a lot of time and energy to help the summer swim program to be successful for everyone!
