Meet Information for Saturday @ Wentzville
Good afternoon Sea Lions!
Attached are the heat sheets and events for our last meet of the season this Saturday. Please remember that these may have to shift if there are any additional scratches or to combine events to occupy lanes. Check the Swimtopia app Saturday morning to confirm heat and lane assignments.
It is VERY important to please contact us immediately if your swimmer is unable to attend. Please make sure to use the "Help! I Can't make the meet!" link, which again is on the homepage of our website. You'll see the giant red "CLICK HERE" link - using this link ensures all the right people (including coaches) are notified immediately. Please don't try to send individual texts, Facebook messages, emails, etc. as we're not able to check those quickly enough to get changes in place.
Progress Park's (968 Meyer Road, Wentzville MO) pool deck opens at 6am, Warmups begin at 6:30am, and meet starts promptly at 7am. Space on the pool deck is tight. Please make sure to get there early to find a place to sit. Our team is allowed to sit on the side of the pool closest to the parking lot.
No outside food/drink/coolers are allowed. There are concessions available for purchase.
For those who have not been to this pool, there are a few things to prepare your swimmer for before the meet starts.
- This is a 50 Meter pool, which is twice the length of all other pools we swim.
- For those swimming events that are 50 or longer, this means longer straightaways and fewer turns.
- For those swimming 100 IM, swimmers will change strokes in the middle of the pool. There will be a black line at the bottom of the pool and a yellow rope over the 25 meter mark.
- For those littles swimming a 25, Wentzville has a parent volunteer in the water at the halfway point of the pool - when your swimmer reaches the parent volunteer, they raise a flag to alert the timers (and also to alert the next swimmer if it's a relay). It's a little unconventional, but they'll get the hang of it.
- Because it is a larger pool, the blocks are about twice as high as ones they are used to seeing. Although we'd encourage them to give it a try, it is legal for kids to dive in from the side of the pool.
Thanks everyone and see you at the pool!
Kerry
