Happy Soggy Friday Sea Lions!

For our new families, a quick introduction (in case you missed our New Parent meeting).  My name is Kerry, and along with my friend Leslie, we are your team Webmasters (all things website and meet management software) and League Representatives (making sure we follow all the league rules).  You'll be seeing lots of communication from us this season, and you will usually see us at the pool in front of a laptop.  Come by to say hi or ask questions any time!

I want to send some important information and reminders for everyone as we wrap up our first week of practice and get ready for our Blue & Gold Intrasquad meet next week.

If you're new to the sport of swim, we have a TON of great information on our website.  One of the best things to check out is on our Swim Meets & Events page.  You'll find some basic information for the terminology of swim team.  It's a little like learning a new language :-)

Rookies and returning families alike should take a look at our Declaring For Meets page.  We covered some of this in the new parent meeting, but this outlines the rules on deadlines for declaring and entries, and also links you to step-by-step instructions on how to declare (aka get your kids signed up) in Swimtopia for meets.

When you're ready to declare, head over to our Meet & Event Signup page. Here you'll find our calendar of events, and you can get your swimmers all setup for the meets this season.  There is also a link to "Subscribe" to our calendar, which will add all of them onto your calendar for you - super easy and super fast!  I would suggest also adding a reminder on your calendar each week to make sure you declare on time.

You'll see our first "meet", which we call Blue & Gold, coming up next Tuesday.  This is not an official league meet - in lieu of practice, we use this is an opportunity to simulate what a meet is like for everyone (swimmers and parents) in a more relaxed fashion.  It also gives the coaches current times for each swimmer in each stroke - which helps our coaches better assign kids into events for in the first official meet.  And...the kids get donuts, so hopefully that helps get them excited to come swim!

Looking forward to next week with temps in the 80's and sunshine - that's swim weather that we're all use to having by now!
